EDWIN “EDDIE” CONNICK TO RUN FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Medical and health services executive Edwin “Eddie” Connick announced today his decision to qualify for the District 82 State Representative seat recently vacated by Charles Henry.

Connick, 59, served as Senior District Manager for pioneering medical giant Medtronic, leaders in advancing technology in medicine. Connick advised Medtronic executives that he would end his 23-year history with the company early in 2021 to dedicate time to improving his community. Said Connick, “I have been blessed, and I wanted to start my 60th year by contributing time to help others. I had no idea that this opportunity would present itself. But given the financial crisis in our state and the medical crisis challenging all of us, serving in the legislature is tailor-made for me to use my business and medical skills to help.”

Connick is a graduate of Boston College where he earned a degree in Finance. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University in August of 1988. Aside from a short stint with HRI, where he helped convert blighted housing into affordable living for families of faith, Connick has dedicated his life to promoting advancements in medicine.

His work with doctors at Ochsner Medical Center, Terrebonne General, East Jefferson General Hospital and Louisiana Children’s Medical Center alone led to millions of dollars in medical upgrades to make patient care more efficient and effective. Connick is a pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment conservative who believes individual liberties must be protected.

Connick believes in less bureaucracy, curbing taxes, strengthening pre-K and K-12 education especially by promoting accountability, and he will be a champion for helping small businesses prosper by cutting red tape and lessening their burden from unnecessary taxation.

Said Connick, “I will be a voice for the neighborhoods in this district especially on quality-of-life measures. I will reach out to business owners to find ways to help them grow and keep our workforce strong. I will work to care for and protect our elderly. And I will fight liberal-minded policies that threaten our pocketbooks and liberties.”

Connick, a lifelong Republican, is married to Julie Ann Schmedtje for 29 years. They have one daughter, Caitlin. They regularly attend St. Catherine of Siena.
